Piazza Pretoria

Piazza Pretoria

Symbol of the new layout of the city in the sixteenth century, placed in front of the town hall (Pretura in latin)and for this reason called Pretorian, the square originally counted among the largest in Italy.

  • Duration

    3/4h | from 9 to 13 or from 14 to 18

  • Price

    100€ | from 1 to 3 participants | 15€ each extra participant

It has been embellished by a fountain entirely carved in Tuscany, inaugurated in 1580. At first sight it seems inspired by Greek and Latin mythologies, if not that the finer observation of each detail leads to new interpretations, and opens to a fascinating interweaving of messages connected to each other

Our clearly esoteric visit exists in two versions depending on the availability and curiosity of the participant, whether we reveal it for what it is separately, or we insert it instead as the conclusion of an itinerary, and therefore we reveal it together with a wider urban/cultural context that justifies it entirely.

Among the surprises that are not lacking in this visit, a particular fascination lies in seeing a logical thread that is transmitted from generation to generation as well as the veiled way of transmitting knowledge, so much so that, without a specialist of the topic, very few could pretend a correct interpretation.
